Back in his golden ages, Joe Biden was a lifeguard.

Almost 55 years ago before stepping into politics, Joe Biden was still doing a community service – he was a lifeguard.

Back in 1962, the Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden took up the job of a lifeguard in Wilmington, Delaware. It was a predominantly African American community area, and he wanted to broaden his perspectives on race by taking up that job.

He stated:

“I wanted to get more involved. I’d turn on the television, and I’d see and listen to Dr. [Martin Luther] King and others, but I didn’t know any black people. So, I wanted to work here.”

He was the only white man in the Prices Run Pool at that time.

Biden says he was always treated as an equal and during his stay, he learnt valuable lessons that would shape his political views. On Monday a ceremony was conducted in honor of Biden by the pool management. The name of the centre was officially changed to Joseph R. Biden Jr. Aquatic Center. At the ceremony, Biden hoped onto his old lifeguard station, only this time he was wearing a suit and his signature sunglasses.

While looking at him in this role the Americans could not help but to remember the good old’ days when Biden looked out for them.

Dear Joe Biden, the entire country needs a lifeguard.

Biden played an instrumental role in saving precious American lives by the passage of the Affordable Care Act. He is also well known and appreciated for his keen efforts to end violence against women.

Some people laughed at the idea of lifeguard in a suit.

While others couldn’t help to compare the similarities between Biden and Cameron from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
