In January 2015, Samantha was traveling through the train with her son. She was heavily occupied keeping the little boy under control. Although her hands were full and the train was crowded, she made way for a stranger to adjust and sit next to her. The stranger was wearing glasses and a hat.

The UK resident single mom was busy minding her own business with her son, teaching him manners and generally chatting with him. He was very obedient and responsive.

Soon after, Rylan got tired and fell asleep on his mother’s lap.

Surprisingly, the man sitting next to Samantha got up and tapped her on her shoulder, saying “I think you’ve dropped this out of your bag,” and started making his way off of the train.

He handed her a folded letter with a five-pound bill in it. By the time he read the handwritten note, the man was already gone.

It said:

Have a drink on me, you’re a credit to your generation, polite and teaching the little boy good manners.

P.S. I have a daughter your age, someone did the same for her once. Hope when she has children she is as good a mother as you.

The note was signed as “man on train at table with glasses and hat.”

50-year-old Ken Saunders was returning home from the National Health Service in England. He has been committed for 16 years and has four step-children.

He was shocked to see Samantha’s response.

Ken shared about how impressed he was when he saw how well-behaved Rylan was and how perfectly Samantha handled him. It made his day.

“It made such a change compared to the maligned young people of today,” he told DailyMail.

“I thought, ‘She’s lightened up my night, I’m going to lighten up her night.’”

This is the kind of love we need in the world today.
