Wolves have a certain elegance to them. They’re loyal creatures, that always hunt in packs, and will rarely be found straying away from what they do. They’re territorial, so as long as you’re not trying to steal their land from them, they won’t hurt you, but if you try, there is the very real danger of them being able to tear you limb from limb.
It’s the fact that they can be so savage while at the same time be so serene. They’re basically wild dogs. In fact, the pets we now have are those that were domesticated and bred for this over the course of many, many years. So, of course, when a Russian photographer named Olga Barantseva, who currently has over 40 thousand followers on Instagram, decided to have people model with wolves, I was immediately intrigued.
These eye-catching images juxtapose the beauty of wolves with their innate, instinctive animal nature. With the snowy backdrop, it almost feels like something out of a fantasy novel. If Twilight was better, it could have channeled the beauty and ethereality of these images.
But alas, it wasn’t, and this is the closest thing we have to appreciating the beauty of these powerful hounds.
