The Last Blockbuster Is Alive And Their Twitter Is Hilarious, Here is Their Best Tweets

After Netflix arrived, Blockbuster slowly went into seclusion.

It used to be a store where you could rent movies for a certain amount of time in a VCR tape and bring it back when you’re done. But with Netflix, you can do all that from the comfort of your home and now, Blockbuster is a shadow of it’s former self, all previous customers gone to the more convenient Netflix.

But it’s not dead, not yet.

There’s one Last Blockbuster left, and it’s got over 169K followers, and no one’s sure whether it’s legit or a parody. In an interview with the Daily Dot, they said:

“This account is actually run by a few of us at the store. We’re a small operation, so we take turns running social media, working the registers, and cleaning out the return drop box. A lot of people seem to think it’s a trash receptacle even though we taped up a sign that says it’s for movies and games only,”

“It feels special to be the last remaining store of a such a culturally important franchise. But sometimes it feels like we’re the only ones who give a shit about watching films the way they were meant to be watched: on pieces of round plastic, slid into a machine that connects to your home television set.”

And the tweets, man, the tweets are a goddamn work of art.
