Adopting a dog is not an option many choose, given the lack of head-turning attractiveness that defines most rescues. But that’s not the path Joe Biden and wife Jill took when they brought in Major from the Delaware Humane Association on Saturday.
This was not a “major” surprise because the Bidens had fostered Major before legally adopting him.
Major, like the name sounds, is a tough guy. He came into the DHA along with five of his siblings. They had consumed something toxic at their home, and their former owners brought them to this rescue group. Thankfully, all their lives were saved with the help of a local veterinary emergency centre.
All six of them have found happy homes.
Patrick Carroll, the executive of DHA, said that it was an “honour” to play a part in uniting the former VP and Major. “We make friends for life at DHA, and we know that the bond between humans and their pets is incredibly strong,” he said. “We have adopted thousands of animals into homes in Delaware, and we are happy to add the vice president and his family to our list.”
The Twitterati did not hold back their love on this occasion.

Franklin added, “That dog is gonna be in aviators and a convertible by Thanksgiving.” That’s a welcome prospect, for sure.
We wish the Biden family and their newest member a lifetime of happiness!
