You take care of them, coddle them, cuddle them, feed them, make sure they’re drinking appropriately, and not eating anything they shouldn’t be eating. It’s a huge responsibility, and it’s equally rewarding.
Them climbing into your lap to nestle is a surge of emotion unlike anything else. Doesn’t matter if it’s a cat or a dog (but a cat choosing to nestle in your lap is far more significant than dogs, because cats are usually asocial assholes).
