Weird “Bullet Bra” Fashion Craze Of The 40s And 50s Is Super Pointy

Fashion has always been a little strange

Modern fashion, especially. Like that Ikea mix-up raised a few eyebrows, but not to say that it’s a 21st century problem. Even back in the 1940s and 1950s, there was a peculiar trend of wearing pointy bras, technically called “bullet bras”. The cups were conic in shape and ended up protruding against the woman’s shirt very prominently.

Maybe that’s the idea.

Anyway, it’s more than likely that you’ve seen them before, but since no one actually pointed them out (pun intended), you never noticed. So why not take a peek at what history once was?

#1 In the car

#2 Smoking with the typewriter

#3 That student chic

#4 A budoir shot

#5 Keeping a professional look

#6 Glamour shot

#7 It’s a shame that colour shots were expensive

#8 Scenic

#9 Artsy with a touch of indie

#10 That bra looks like it’s trying to escape

#11 Don’t stare too hard, you’ll poke out your eyes

#12 Even Marilyn Monroe wore them

#13 It really does look like they’re trying to escape

#14 Looks like a movie still.

#15  e s c a p e

#16 Quality glamour shot

#17 Over the shoulder

#18 Why are they so far apart?

#19 Imagine having a chest that’s like that normally

#20 Artist modelling. At least her shoes are on point.

#21 More Marilyn Monroe

#22 You could cut glass with those

#23 This is what they look like

#24 The grass does not look comfy

#25 They’ll help her float, at least.

#26 The dress is pretty

#27 Slightly risqué

#28 Smoker with prominent lips

#29 Flattering angles

#30 How is she still alive with that waistline?

#31 Why are the tips brighter?

#32 Artsy back angle

#33 I don’t see how she can read like that

#34 Two for one.

#35 Did they also make the shirts stretchy to make up for it?

#36 They’re so pointy

#37 These ones are more subtle.

#38 That guy’s face steals the show

#39 They’re like tiny rockets

#40 I hope she looked both ways before crossing the road

#41 They must see nothing when they look down

#42 Another look at the bras themselves

#43 The bras make their chests so prominent

#44 Is that Matt Damon?

#45 Even tennis players

#46 She won’t win hide and seek if those cones have anything to say

#47 Students outside Paramount

#48 Classic 50s look

#49 Even in such a slim fitting tee

#50 Again, why are they so far apart?

#51 More budoir shots

#52 Stay at home wife.

#53 A rare colour picture

#54 Living on the edge.

#55 I like her neckerchief

#56 She has early Star Trek vibes

#57 Her smile, though!

#58 As you can see, they were pretty sharply conic

#59 As a result, they always looked like they were trying to escape the shirts they were in.

#60 Outdoors and attractive

#61 Did the kettle insult her?

#62 Style sure has changed over the years

#63 While there are some that might wear them today

#64 Most prefer spherical cups as opposed to conic

#65 It definitely is a fascinating look

#67 Because it shows how much of our history we kept

#68 And how much of our history we discarded

#69 Why are they so high?

#70 That looks like the exact opposite of comfortable.

#71 It’s so bright in this one

#72 This is so 40s.

#73 Those shorts are still in style

#75 And that polka dot belt is a nice touch

#77 They could be registered as weapons

#78 Another colour photo

#79 Is that Dolly?

#80 She looks so young

#81 I think that maybe having a “sharp” look is what they were after

#82 Her heels though

#83 They must have hurt to wear

#84 Maybe they got used to the pain

#85 She still kinda looks like she’s in pain though

#86 Isn’t she wearing them a little low?

#87 No pants and a pointy bra?

#88 Looks like she’s straight out of a wife magazine

#89 James Bond movie

#90 Just a little sensual

#91 This looks like a college picture

#92 This was such a long time ago, the image quality proves it

#93 Sunbathing

#94 That waist line looks so strange with how wide that bra is

#95 Her headlights are on high

#96 They look so sharp!

#97 I’m not sure about you

#98 But I definitely wouldn’t wear one of these

#99 Mostly because I’m a guy

#100 What about you?

Would you wear these?
