Artist Creates Amazing Fluffy Cats Using Just Ink And They Look Hauntingly Beautiful

Crafted with perfection, artist Kamwei Fong uses only fine line pen to meticulously create textured, fluffy black cats. The series of illustrations called The Furry Thing require a great deal of skill and patience. However, the results make it all the more worth it.

“I draw them by shading with tons of tiny furs,” Kamwei told Bored Panda“It is indeed a very time consuming process. Small ones like A3 could take a few days, big ones like 25×37 inches could take a few weeks.”

Nonetheless, the “furry” look is a result of volume and texture which is slowly built with lines of variable sizes and density.

Each of the cats is crafted to display a playful yet unique personality, which is a testimony to the skills of the Malaysian artist. Moreover, Kamwei’s work is not only restricted to cats. He’s previously used the same technique to create a variety of animals such as Bo the goldfish, puppies, and monkeys.

The illustrations follow a minimalist and peace-evoking mantra through which Kamwei aims to “encourage and uplift people to become more optimistic about life.”
